Trenwyth West Division Adds Masonry Unit of Monumental Proportions

With the addition of an enhanced grinding operation, Trenwyth Industries now offers a concrete masonry unit of monumental proportion at their Phoenix, Arizona manufacturing facility.  Following in the success of their east coast (Emigsville, PA) and midwest (Morris, IL) operations, Trenwyth has broadened the line of Monumental Series over-sized concrete masonry units available in the western U.S. to include 16" x 24" units. 

Not currently sourced anywhere on the west coast, over-sized 16" x 24" concrete masonry units provide the AEC community with a unique alternative. Available in colors, shapes and sizes you won’t find anywhere else, chamfers and special shapes inspire design flexibility to create large-scale walls, columns and arches of monumental proportion – inside and out.

Extracted, processed and manufactured in Phoenix, the 16" x 24" over-sized units are available in a variety of textures including Trendstone® ground face, Trendstone Plus® filled and polished and Mesastone® textured units. 

Monumental over-sized 16" x 24" units with a Trendstone ground face finish or a Trendstone Plus filled and polished finish are integrally colored concrete block with one or more faces ground to expose the variegated colors of the natural aggregates.  After the initial grinding process, the pores and interstices of Trendstone Plus units are filled with a cementitious grout and the faces are polished smoothed in a multi-stage polishing process to produce a terrazzo-like finish.  A factory-applied, low-VOC, water-based sealant is applied to both Trendstone and Trendstone Plus over-sized units to accentuate the natural beauty of the aggregates and provide mold and moisture resistance.

Monumental over-sized 16" x 24" units with a Mesastone textured finish are concrete blocks produced with colored aggregates and pigment uniformly finished to an even texture.  Although it may resembles split face, Mesastone is more uniform, easier to lay up and provides a straighter site line to the building.

Monumental over-sized units are cost-effective.  They offer one-step, single-trade installation of load-bearing and non-load-bearing walls.  Monumental units significantly impact the reduction of energy consumption.  Because these high thermal mass fire-rated walls remain warm or cool long after the heat or air-conditioning has been turned off, the heating and cooling loads are shifted to off-peak hours reducing excessive energy use.  Monumental over-sized units are virtually maintenance free and will last the life of the building.
